Ouroboro

The symbol has been discovered in many ancient cultures among the royal families of Rome, Persia, and Egypt. It is usually a serpent-like creature holding its tail in its mouth. People believed that if one saw it near a river, he or she would be granted longevity. It was also a popular symbol among alchemical manuscripts. The thought of devouring oneself and turning oneself into a circular process carries a meaning of infinity or wholeness.
